Hi all,

I was alone this morning from 8am-1015am looking
for any gulls. I did find the MEW GULL (probably
"Common" race) arriving with loads of other gulls from
the ESE around 9:11am. More and more gulls continues
to arrive from that directions. Other gulls in area,
Ring-billed, Herring, Great Black-backed, 1st Y Lesser
Black-backed, and a 1st Y Glaucous Gull. I couldn't
find any Laughing, or Thayer's Gull reported
yesterday.

As soon as the Mew landed (I didn't see the Mew in
flight until it landed), I noticed the size smaller
than Ring-billed that was next to it, dark eye, more
streaking on nape, thin..I mean very thin bill with a
small dark ring, large white spot on tip of wings.
When I first arrive at 8am, there were only 200
gulls, but in the next hour or so, many, many more
arrive in every other few minutes to gather in the
middle of the pond resting on ice. Ice covers 85% of
the pond.

Total Gulls #

698 Ring-billed Gull (many are adults)
260 Herring Gull (50% ad., 50% of all ages)
     67 Great Black-backed Gull (8 adults)
      1 Lesser Black-backed Gull (1st year)
      1 Glaucous Gull (1st year)
      1 MEW GULL (winter adult)
****** Sorry Hans, I didn't mean to find this bird

Gulls not seen today: Laughing, Thayer's, Black-headed

Full list to come up later
