The swan reported by Gayle Bach-Watson at Little Seneca Lake on December 31
will very probably be checked out during the Sugarloaf Christmas Bird
Count, which occurs tomorrow, January 2. I am not certain that the count
circle extends to where the swan was seen, but it has to be very
close. The sector leaders in the past have been Denise Gibbs and/or Hugh
Mahanes, and they know which parts of the lake are within or without the
count circle. Anyway, I feel sure that someone will be able to check out
this report in the near future.
I wish I'd seen this Swan when I was out at the lake earlier in the day on
12/31. Of course, as Bob Ringler points out, if it is a Trumpeter, we have
to start speculating where it came from.
