I posted a record of seeing the Sandhill Crane at Poolesville on 26 December
(MDOsprey archives, Item 27, Dec 2004, week 4).  It was highly unusual
because the bird was in the town, at the intersection of Wootton Ave. and
Hoskinson Rd., in someone's yard.

My father, an avid birder from Washington state, took a few pictures with an
average digital camera because it was so close to our car.  I put these 3

Very strange to see this bird essentially unafraid in the middle of human
habitation!!
