Greetings,

Last night at dusk I was scoping the North East River/Chesapeake Bay from
my father-in-law's house near Sandy Cove (North of Red Point) on the North
East River. From there I found 7 Common Goldeneyes pretty far out. There
were also a few Common Mergs and LOADS of gull-like birds about 4 miles out
on the Susquehanna Flats. There were way to far away to tell what speceis
they were in the poor light, but there didnt apear to be waterfolw. My
guess is that there were about 5000 birds out there sitting still on the
glass-like bay. Earlier I noticed that the North East Town Park was void
of gulls. Perhaps these birds are the gulls that usually roost in North
East five miles to the north?

At any rate, I was pleased to see the goldeneyes as I do not regularly see
this species on the North East River.

Good Birding,
