Due to the  70% forecast  of  snow for the weekend, the 7th  Annual C&O 
Canal Midwinter Bird Survey is being postponed  until Saturday  January 29 
, 2005 (with an option for  Jan. 30).  This decision is based on the safety 
of the observers.  We were very close to 100% coverage with many teams 
covering 2-3 miles. Since there will be some attrition due to the 
rescheduling, we will, of course, welcome  new participants.  This  survey 
which covers 185 miles of consecutive riparian habitat must be notable for
