I had four Cackling Geese in the small arm of the lake next to the Rte 121 bridge late this afternoon. I think these are probably the same birds as the ones that have been frequenting the Zion Rd area. As with that group birds there is a bit of a size difference, with the largest (and longest-billed) bird having a small partial white collar. This bird was often at the front of the group as they swam around - I guess an adult male? It was interesting how the different color of these birds to larger Canada - greyer on the back and breast and the pale barring - was much more striking today in late afternoon light than when I'd seen them at Blue Mash in the midday sun.

There were a lot of other waterfowl there but after photographing the Cacklings I was far too cold to do much more than a cursory sweep and didn't see anything that had not been reported before. A lot of Canada Geese were coming in to roost as I left.
