Phil
I am not sure if you have been to look to Black Hills before; if you have, its the small parking area at the south end of the Rte 121 bridge/causeway over the lake. The Cackling Geese were in the small finger on east side of this. If you haven't been there before, take Rte 121 from I-270 (I think its exit 18 - but the park is signposted, then stay on Rte 121 rather than taking the left turn for Black Hills, carry on until you cross the bridge/causeway, then pull over left into the parking area/boat ramp. The Cackling Geese could of course move around but the area just near this parking lot was where they were this evening. I suspect they will leave the area some time in the morning to feed in fields, and return in the afternoon. They are a lot smaller than the other Canada there, not much bigger than Mallard, and they typically stick together in a small group.
There are a lot of waterfowl there now, as many other water bodies have frozen up, so a trip there should be good anyway.
If the directions don't make sense, please let me know.
Good luck.
Regards
Clive Harris
