If you ever go birding in high latitudes in summer, many species sing at
night (in the twilight or the full daylight above the Arctic Circle) and
rest during the "day." I know when we were in Finland, "night singers" are
looked for in the wee hours or even all night. It is quite an experience to
be wandering around Vermo (a racetrack/park outside Helsinki) in the
half-light of 11:00 p.m. listening for (and trying to see) the many singing
warblers there. If you went there in full daylight, all would be silent.

I admit that sometimes I feel like shipping our resident Mockers *to*
Finland to join their friends when I am awakened in the middle of the night!
Does anyone have any experiences with other species singing at night-time in
this area (other than owls, of course!)
