Hi All,

Nancy and I plan on a full day of coastal birding around Ocean City and Assateague I. this coming Saturday; this is the Kent County Bird Club trip postponed from last week. We will meet anyone interested in joining us at 8:00 AM at the parking lot in front of the Dollar General Store across from the light at Spring St. on MD-213. The current forecast for Saturday looks good - mid- to upper-30s and partly cloudy. Warm clothing will be necessary and a bag lunch is recommended for the trip.

Reports from the coast last weekend included Harlequin Duck, both eiders, and Glaucous Gull. A few alcids were reported at the Ocean City Inlet over two weeks ago. Also sighted recently were brant, all three scoters in good numbers, both loons, Great Cormorant, Purple Sandpiper, American Oystercatcher, and gannet. There is a forecast of snow for Sunday, so Nancy and I will keep an eye on the forecast in case the winter weather jumps its predicted arrival.

Good Birdng,

Walter Ellison
