Folks

One of the snow birds that visited the house today was a Chipping Sparrow.
My first of the year and a January surprise. Other species included
Yellow-bellied Sapsucker, Northern Flicker, Downy, Hairy, and Red-bellied
Woodpeckers, Fox Sparrow, Song Sparrow, Dark-eyed Junco, White-throated, and
Eastern Towhee - five species of woodpeckers and sparrows, plus a female
Red-winged Blackbird. I got a poor quality but recognizable image of the
Chippy.

I have not seen my Pine Warbler for four days now. He may have succumbed to
the weather. I hope not. I hope I have just missed him. The Mockingbird
continues to feed on the suet in the front.

Hawks today included the two Red-shouldered and the immature Sharp-shinned
that have been hanging around.

Late in the day a Great Blue Heron flew by for #41 for the year yard list.
