A field trip from Patuxent MOS was treated to good views of about 4 Snow
Buntings and ~50 Horned Larks in a flock passing back and forth across
Rolling Bridge Rd nr Rt 304, a mile east of Centreville, the same area
as posted y'day by Danny Poet. The birds could also be seen along the
new residential road paralleling Rolling Bridge Rd. At the nearby Jr Hi
School, 6 Am. Pipits were an added bonus. We noted that the Snow
Buntings were in various stages of plumage. After a long search, no
longspurs were found in the group.

At Kent Narrows, the following waterfowl were seen:

Mallard 10
Canvasback ~150
Bufflehead >200
Lr Scaup ~200
C Goldeneye 2 m
Ruddy Ducks >300
C Merg 1 m
H Merg(!) 1 m
Mute Swan 2
No loons, grebes, Redheads, or Oldsquaw

Chesapeake Env Ctr (aka Horsehead Sanctuary) was so frozen off-shore
that no waterfowl were present there. Land birds incl a N. Harrier, sev.
Hermit Thrushes, a Winter Wren, and a Rusty Blackbird, besides great
numbers of Myrtle Warblers and White-throats.
