After last weeks postponement, I was able to do my part of the annual
C&O Towpath mid-winter census today. I do five miles in Washington Co from
Synder's Landing to Taylor's Landing (M76-80). I'll post the complete
results later.
Highlights were four Ravens- 3(including a possible pair) at milepost
76 and one near Lock 40, where I have seen them before, 51 Common Mergansers
(other ducks were scarce), and 2 Wild Turkeys climbing a rock cliff. Before
driving down the hill to Synder's Landing there were 25 turkeys feeding in
an open field.
