Sexing the KEGU

Hi, Rick, et al--
    There hasn't been any official determination of which sex the St. Mary's County KEGU is, but those who know kelp gulls have, through personal communication with us, leaned toward "ours" being a female--rounded head, more petite size. Tyler and I were thrown for a loop when pictures of the CO kelp gull started appearing--we were astounded by that bird's honking big bill and overall massive size compared to the one here. Based on that, we like to think of the MD bird as being a female. After knowing Shrimpy for all of these years, it seems unkind to keep calling it an "it..." Jane
