The directions to the fields where the Lapwing has been seen have been approximations. I took some more exact measurements last night before leaving. Site #1 is about 0.4 mile west of Route 550 on the north side of Blacks Mill Road before the big curve in the road. Site #2 is about 0.75 mile north of the same intersection to a right turn on Graceham Road then 0.4 mile north on Graceham Road on the east side of the road close to a fence with a little snow remaining. At both sites there were snow-melt pools close to the road. Killdeer were also present at Site #2. Since the bird was not seen for most of the day yesterday it could have been in other fields. There is good habitat in all directions.
Remember the roads are narrow and today is back to work day. The local people have been very inquisitive, interested, and tolerant so far. Please do what you can to keep it that way.
   Good luck!
