Folks

With all the excitement about the Northern Lapwing in Frederick Co., I did
not take the time to post my Sunday yard highlights. For the first time in
memory I had all seven eastern woodpeckers species around the house on
Sunday, February 13. I also had my first Bald Eagle fly over of the 2005
season (#49 for the year yard list).

Gwen and I want to thank the folks who found and reported the Northern
Lapwing - Lyn and Skip Nelson. Goes to show the benefits of doing a
mid-winter count in an area not well birded. Keep up the good work.

A word of caution. One thing I noticed yesterday when the bird was near Rt.
550 was a birder in a green van parked partly in the road. I considered
this unsafe and could lead to problems if not an accident. Rt. 550 is a
heavily traveled road. Place have the presence of mind to park off the road
for yours and others safely. This behavior could also lead to a bad
impression with the local people that live in this area.
