 Hello
( I'll try to improve my grammar from my last message)
I took a short walk around Lake Kittamaqundi this morning, and saw a female Hooded Merganser swimming in an unfrozen spot of the lake. That was my year's first.
I didn't see anything else new for my year list, but I was able to do something that I'm not too great at. Identify some birds by ear. They were pretty easy ones though. A Red-bellied Woodpecker and a Red-shouldered Hawk. Both of them are pretty loud screamers and pretty obvious.
As I was walking home I saw a Ruby-crowned Kinglet in some branches around the pedistrian bridge over Rt. 29. I stood still and it came very close.
 Marcus
