Hi Everyone,

Stan Arnold just called and asked me to post about the Eurasian
Collared-Dove seen in Frederick County. He and several other birders, Bruce
Hill and Harvey and Marion Mudd, are scouring the area, but the status
remains "not yet." We'll keep our fingers crossed for further sightings of
it, and of course, of my new nemesis the Northern Lapwing.

What will Trip 4 to the area yield? :)

While I'm posting, I'll report a few other items:

1) Looking out my window after hearing very active chickadees this morning,
I observed a pair investigating one of my nest boxes--a nice sign of coming
spring!

2) Extralimital: I've posted many photos from my recent trip to the
Everglades and the Florida Keys to my web site, including many of the
Florida specialties and of the Western Spindalis in Key West. I'm now in the
process of posting photos from Stan and my trip to Ontario this past
weekend, so those should be up in the next few hours (by 4:00 p.m.). These
will include Great Gray Owl, Northern Hawk-Owl, Boreal Owl, Bohemian
Waxwings, and Barrow's Goldeneye. We also had Snowy Owl, Northern Shrike, a
porcupine, and killer chickadees eating sunflower seeds from our hands! Bot
trips were incredible. After these two trips, do I dare hope to have enough
good bird kharma to find the lapwing? I hope!

Have a great week, and I'll see many of you on the pelagic next weekend!

Bill
