Thought this might be of interest to several on the list. It may turn out to be mostly a gripe session about the dramatic increase in deer population in the area eating out local backyard gardens and residents concerned with the coyotes. Obviously, reducing the deer population would be a good thing for our ground nesting birds. I just learned over the weekend that the first road killed deer in the park was back in 1985. They never had a problem with them before that time. What a difference 20 years can make.

From Adrien Fenty's news letter -

Thursday, February 24: Rock Creek Park "Town Hall"
Meeting. Rock Creek Park adjoins many Ward 4
neighborhoods, and late last year residents were
concerned about problems with deer, coyote sightings,
and other wildlife issues. We have arranged a meeting
for the community with the National Park Service, the
DC Departments of Health, Public Works, and
Transportation, and Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes
Norton's office. Come discuss your concerns at the
Rock Creek Nature Center, 5200 Glover Road NW at 6:30
p.m. on Thursday, February 24.
