On Sunday during my weekly walk at Kenilworth Aquatic Gardens, my family and
I had an Osprey (a male I believe -- no necklace). It was circling the area.
Also of interest for potential signs of Spring, were a Chipping Sparrow and
a Kingfisher. (The Kingfisher is a regular at KAG, but we hadn't seen -- or
heard -- him since December.) Finally, I got my first Black Vulture at KAG
since I started my project in July.

Subject: [MDOSPREY] First Osprey of the year

Today the first osprey of the year showed up at one of our platforms. The
earliest we've seen one here in the 5 years we've lived here. Last year #1
arrived the first week of March. The platform this one was on has almost
nothing on
which they are going to be able to build. It remains to be seen if they
manage
to use it. We have another platform which is in fine shape & then there is
the top of the gazebo at the end of the dock. The nest on that survived the
winter & with a little tidying up I'm sure we'll have another family there.
Makes
the dock more or less off limits for most of the summer. Last year all 3
nests
were used & 8 chicks were produced.
