My husband and I arrived at the Graceham Rd. site at approximately 11:30AM,
3/2/05 to find the lapwing along the fenceline near one of the wet areas in
the field. There were lots of cars, maybe 20, most all with out-of-state
plates. Parking is difficult and any car effectively blocks most of the
paved lane. I was uncomfortable with this situation. We observed the bird
for about an hour, took some photos and then popped over to Thurmont for
lunch. We drove back to Graceham Rd. at approximately 1:30 and the bird was
still in the field although farther out. I feel lucky to have seen this bird
as I was on the West Coast when everyone else was seeing it!
