The following announcement was forwarded to me. 
 
 
 
Title:Bird Technicians 
 
Agency:Smithsonian Institute’s Conservation and Research Center 
 
Location:Western Virginia 
 
Job Description:Three technicians needed for general survey of eastern 
songbirds in northwest Virginia from mid-May through mid-July with 
possibility of extension.  Work consists of standard point counts during 
breeding season at multiple high-elevation sites within state.   Duties 
also include habitat surveys of point count locations.  Remaining time 
spent on data entry, data analysis, point establishment, and logistical 
planning.  Schedule will focus around early morning work during birding 
season.  Housing and field vehicles provided. 
 
Qualifications:MUST have prior experience conducting point counts and 
excellent identification skills of eastern songbirds. Prefer also general 
tree identification skills.  Excellent physical shape and experience in
