The Chain Bridge ponds had a pair of Wood Ducks today, the first I've seen
in DC this year. An adult Black-crowned Night-heron had also made it
upriver and was roosting in the tangles along the C&O Canal at Chain
Bridge, the earliest I've seen one in this location. Three Great Blue
Herons were also around the ponds along with a number of Canada Geese in
pairs.

Fletcher's Boathouse had 2 Double-crested Cormorants and 4 Common
Mergansers. Lots of robins, starlings, and juncos were feeding on the wet
ground around the parking areas. A Red-shouldered Hawk flew over.

An adult Lesser Black-backed Gull was on the center dike at Georgetown
Reservoir.
