A stop in Rocky Point Park, in eastern Baltimore County, late this afternoon
produced some waterfowl but little else. Most birds were very distant.
RED-NECKED GREBE - 2 west of the boat ramp, off the golf course point
TUNDRA SWAN - over 100 rafted about 1 mile out in Hawk Cove
GREATER SCAUP - 5 ID'd close to boat ramp
LESSER SCAUP - a few close enough to ID
scaup sp. - thousands rafted around Hart-Miller
BUFFLEHEAD - 2
RED-BREASTED MERGANSER - 2
BALD EAGLE - 2 (1 adult visible on Hart Miller, 1 3rd year over Rocky Point)
TREE SWALLOW - 3
There were also hundreds of Aythya ducks at the mouth of Bear Creek, on the
SE end of the Key Bridge, where they often stage at this time of year.
