Rick:

I have used the TRIPACK for several years. It's good if you want to hike some distance, and you can use binoculars or whatever with both hands free. I usually have the tripod legs extended, then I can (somewhat awkwardly) slip into or out of the back-pack type straps. The problem I have is that the center tripod leg, instead of staying in place well behind me, slips back close enough that I kick the leg at times. This may vary with the tripod you use. I'm using the Bogen 3221. If you want to hike a long distance before using the scope, it is better to have the tripod legs not extended, but then you probably need someone to help you take the pack on and off.
