In the UK and other places where people traditionally carry their scopes
with them everywhere, most folks use a simple tripod carrying strap. In
fact, Bogen/Manfrotto makes one for its tripods (there are screw holes in
place on the tripods to accommodate these straps) and these work pretty
well. ABA carries them, I think. You carry the assembly over your shoulder,
legs contracted. I use one of these straps myself.
