Yesterday I came home at sunset and found a phoebe roosting in the garage!
Last year, phoebes built a nest on top of the outside light that is above
our garage door.
If we made the mistake of leaving the door open after dark, we often startled
the roosting male by closing the garage door. His favorite perch was a wire
that
hung loosely across the ceiling. We have since removed it, but have much
shelf space
where he can perch. It's nice to have the phoebe back, but I do wish it
would stay
out of the garage proper.
I suppose it's also nearly time to inspect the shelves for a Carolina
wren's nest. In
previous springs, they have built inside a flowerpot, a riding helmet, and
a funnel.
Happy spring!
