Dear MD Osprey,

While teaching some environmental education programs today at the Appeal Landfill in southern Calvert County, I observed an albino black vulture among a group of about 35 black vultures that were working the dumpsters at this site. This is the first albino BV that I've ever observed here or anywhere. In addition to the all white plumage (slightly muddied by its chosen environs) the beak and eyes were pink. Pretty neat!

Yesterday, four laughing gulls made an appearance at the landfill--which were the first for the season here. Today there were two osprey at this location as well.

Good birding!
