I visited Chesapeake Environmental Center this afternoon for a few hours and
was able to pick up a nice diversity of waterfowl. Lake Knapp held serveral
gadwall, pintail, lesser scaup, green-winged teal, widegon and a lone ruddy.
Out at the canoe launch there was a flock of about 1,000 ruddy ducks,
200-300 scaup, 20 canvasback and 1 redhead. Also 10 horned grebes and 2
pied-billed. New spring birds for me were 3 pine warblers, 2 tree swallows
and 3 opsrey. Had 1 bald eagle flyover and scare up all the ducks at Knapp.
My last bird of the day was a brown-headed nuthatch heard from the parking
lot.

Good Birding
