I stopped at Rocky Gap (on a tip from Ray Kiddy) on the way home from
DC today and had some decent birds.

First I stopped at Big Pool (aka "Big waste of time Pool";
when there are boaters everywhere it really is a mistake to
bother stopping).

This place doesn't open until 11:00 am in winter either.
Does that seem like a reasonable time to open a park ?
Anyway I did see a Great Blue Heron and an Eastern Phoebe.

(all sightings Saturday 3/26)
Rocky Gap State Park
Common Loon 3
Horned Grebe 2 (one pretty distant, both in breeding plumage)
Pied-billed Grebe 1
Mallard 2
Hooded Merganser 4
Red-breasted Merganser 11
Bufflehead 2
Am. Coot 16
B. Kingfisher 1
Killdeer 2
Bonaparte's Gull 15
Ring-billed Gull 5
Tree Swallow 10 (this is an underestimate ... I really didn't count)
I counted over 200 here last time I stopped.
RW Blackbird 15

Mason Road (McCagh's Pond; near Rocky Gap)
Ring-necked Ducks 28
Lesser Scaup 18
Greater Scaup 8
Redhead 2 (1 each, male and female)
