Took my core walk at McKee-Beshers WMA(Mont Co) this morning-
checked the impoundments first, then east on Hunting Quarter Rd to center
parking lot, to towpath and Horsepen Hiker-Biker and back to the
impoundments.
Not a bad day-43 species. Highlights were American Wigeon (5),
Blue-winged
Teal(5), Ring-necked Duck (97), Bufflehead (6), Hooded Merganser (2),
Bonaparte's Gull (11 floating down the Potomac-only one had a black hood),
Eastern Phoebe(3), Winter Wren (4 including one singing), Field Sparrow (1
FOY)
and one brown Purple Finch singing. The low note would be only one
Myrtle Warbler.
