Having read Bob Ringler's note to Mike Callahan about Mike's very early
Hooded Warbler on the eastern shore, Jane and I were surprised to hear
one singing in the creek bed near our house. Though the Yellow Book
shows 4/3 as the early arrival date, apparently the birds don't know
about it ;)
This is a traditional location for Hooded Warbler within our atlas block
but certainly very early. We were out walking Saturday morning between
deluges and heard the distinctive wheeta-wheeta-whee-TEE-Oh song
repeatedly as we moved by the area. Maybe this year we'll get to confirm
it?!
