Roosevelt Island, Wash, DC, 5 Apr 05, 1130-1230
It wasn't to tough to venture forth on a fine spring day like today. RI, a
small wilderness oasis that lies smack-dab in the middle of metro DC, always
provides a nice respite from work at lunchtime. A distant warbler taunted
me with an ID, most likely an eastern Palm from it's color and behavior.
Where's a scope when you need one? 25 species observed including the
following notable birds:
Great Egret
Bonaparte's Gull (~50 floating down the Potomac between RI & Georgetown)
Eastern Phoebe
Barn Swallow (first members of the colony that nests under the access
bridge)
Blue-gray Gnatcatcher
Louisiana Waterthrush
Chipping Sparrow
