I had an exciting early morning walk around Schoolhouse Pond today.
Highlights included the large groups of gulls that typically make the
flight towards Brown Station Road each morning. Among the many flyover
Herring Gulls, I spotted one late 1st winter Glaucous Gull, which stood
out due to its completely white plumage. Also flying over were smaller
numbers of Ringers and some very vocal Laughing Gulls. And, a small group
of Bonies flew over as well. With all the wonderful gulls seen at the
pond this winter, these were the first Bonaparte's Gulls I've seen here
this season.

Spring migrants returning to the pond included one Blue-gray Gnatcatcher
in the woods around the back of the pond, and a Common Yellowthroat in the
cattails. Also of note were a pair of Wood Ducks, a flyover Double-
crested Cormorant, and the usual Osprey hunting over the water.
