Have seen two birds over the last two days at
Lily Pons that I am having trouble identifying --
though perhaps the group might supply some
wisdom ----

Bird #1
Greyish brown breast/ clear
black eye / white eye ring
deep cinnamon crest -- standing straight up (punk gel!!)
dark back -- cinnamon/black/white
dark tail / long / notched
cinnamon beak
feeding on tall grasses along dirt road
6" to 7" (approx)

Bird #2
Soft greyish - brown all over
virtually featureless -- featherwise
most striking feature bright scarlet legs
deep coral pink to red beak
on steep side of mucky pool and then
in low trees
5" to 6" (approx)

Thanks

If I keep a green bough in my heart,
the singing bird will come.

A bird does not sing because it has an answer.
It sings because it has a song.
