Nancy and I took a two hour walk yesterday morning along the C&O Canal in
Washington County. We heard our first of the year singing Yellow-throated
Warblers (2) and a singing Ruby-crowned Kinglet, but were surprised by the
apparent absence of gnatcatchers.

The complete species list is a follows:

 Double-crested Cormorant
 Canada Goose
 Wood Duck
 Mallard
 Belted Kingfisher
 Red-bellied Woodpecker
 Downy Woodpecker
 Pileated Woodpecker
 Blue Jay
 American Crow
 Tree Swallow
 Carolina Chickadee
 Tufted Titmouse
 White-breasted Nuthatch
 Carolina Wren
 Ruby-crowned Kinglet
 Yellow-throated Warbler
 Louisiana Waterthrush
 Song Sparrow
 White-throated Sparrow
 Dark-eyed Junco
 Northern Cardinal
 American Goldfinch

We also had two new yard birds in a state which must not be named ;)
(although it is in an MD Atlas block and see signature block for a hint):
Field Sparrow and Brown-headed Cowbird.
