I drove down to Eliot Island yesterday evening searching for new arrivals.
In the pines north of the marshes Ovenbirds and Pine Warblers were very
vocal.

Seaside Sparrows and Virginia Rails were constantly calling in the marshes
along with the larger rail species. One Willet was observed feeding on a
mudflat. Lesser and Greater Yellowlegs were the only other shorebirds
observed. Three Boat-tailed Graclkes were seen right before the island
feeding along the road.

At the marina/boatramp on the island Forster's Terns were numerous with two
Royals sitting on the bulkheads. Two Clapper Rails were calling as well.

At dusk three Black-crowned Night-Herons flew across the road while leaving
the marshes. Woodcocks were calling around the Savannah Lake area.

Great Horned Owls were calling in many locations.

Whip-poor-wills were calling at three locations between the marshes and
Henry's Crossing. One Chuck-wills-widow was calling just south of Henry's
Crossing.
