Last week I was in CA on business, and was amazed by the changes when I
returned.  I can no longer see through the tree canopies, and it seems all
the neotropic migrants began arriving last week!  I did very little
birding but found 14 new species this weekend (for my 2005 "Jug Bay area"
tally), including 8 while I was catching up on yard work.  Although not
new for 2005, also worth a mention was a raucous flock of 30+ yellow-rumps
in the large beech and oak trees out back, that gave my neck fits trying
to find something else with them; and also seeing 6 eagles in one sighting
(3 adult and 3 juvenile bald eagles).

Although I regret missing the nice weather here last week, the CA coast is
an amazing place for birding; I've never been and highly recommend it.
Migration there is also crazy now.
