Hi Folks

I spent a little time birding in three different counties today. A short
lunch-time walk along the Middle Patuxent River at the end of Edenbrook Rd.
in Howard Co. yielded the following birds singing:

Great Crested Flycatcher
N. Parula
Ovenbird
Scarlet Tanager

In the late afternoon I visited the McKeldin area of Patapsco Valley State
Park, Carroll Co., and found:

Wood Duck--1 on river
Barred Owl--3 or more responding to my hoots
E. Phoebe--3
Yellow-throated Vireo--1 singing robustly
N. Parula--one viewed at close range; others singing

This evening I joined Bill Hubick and a friend of his in our Curtis Bay
atlas blocks in northern Anne Arundel Co. Our finds included:

Greater Yellowlegs--1
Spotted Sandpiper--5
Solitary Sandpiper--9 or more
Barred Owl--1 or 2 heard
Chuck-will's Widow--1 heard at a distance, but quite distinctly (about 8:35
p.m.)
Wood Thrush--1 heard at dusk
Ovenbird--1 very vocal
Field Sparrow--5 or 6
