Interestingly, after downloading the latest A.O.U. checklist of the birds of
the A.O.U. area, I had made mention recently to some friends that they still
didn't have Ivory-billed Woodpecker listed as extinct even though Bachman's
Warbler was. Since both have been absent for nearly the same amount of time
in the eyes of the birding public, perhaps the Ivory-billed an even longer
period, I remarked that someone knew something that we didn't. It appears
the observation was correct after all.
For those of you that may be wondering, Eskimo Curlew is still listed as
being in existance. Keep looking.
