Hi Everyone,

Traveled to the C & O Canal near Harpers Ferry today, just west of Sandy Hook. Highlights and first for the year birds were Warbling Vireo, Bank Swallow, Spotted Sandpiper, Baltimore Oriole and Great Crested Flycatcher. I stopped at a boat ramp further west along the canal and found Yellow-throated Warbler, Prothonotary, L. Waterthrush and Northern Parula. My next stop was Mt Briar Wetland in Rorhersville where I found a hen Wild Turkey and a Winter Wren. At Gathland SP, I heard Scarlet Tanagers and found a flock of about 15 Ruby-crowned Kinglets. My last stop was the pond at Burkittsville, where was a lone Coot and Ring-necked Duck with a pair of Green-winged Teal. Also present were Spotted Sandpipers, Greater Yellowlegs and Solitary Sandpipers. Along the shoreline, a half dozen A. Pipits were bathing and preening.
