Yesterday afternoon my wife and I met up with some friends in Bowie for a
bite to eat. When we arrived at the Tre Tex-Mex Restaurant, there was some
bird activity in the parking lot. I had Chestnut-sided Warbler calling,
Yellow Warbler, and Wood Thrush. After dinner, I went back out to walk the
parking lot in the hopes of hearing or seeing some more cool birds, It was
around 7pm, I looked up as I walked out of the restaurant and this agile
gliding raptor with a black tail and thin pointing wings came gliding over
the tree line. I was hesitating about reporting it for fear of people
thinking that I am a kite crazed maniac. So I can say that I am glad Mary
Ann Todd did it first. I know what I saw yesterday, I just hope these
birds are going to become a regular Maryland breeding bird. I am really
beginning to wonder.
Also there was a beautiful Swainsons Thrush blessing me with his song when
I was getting ready to leave. Really nice to hear.
