After a Saturday morning too rainy to bother and a Sunday out of town, I returned to my patch this morning and found it probably the birdiest it's been this spring. Most unusual bird was an Osprey flyover. Also somewhat unusual was a Hermit Thrush, which is only the second time I've seen one in the park--Friday was the first, and I wonder if this is the same bird (it gave me great looks, probably because there's not many places to hide in the park!).

Warbler diversity was lousy, but the numbers were great: I conservatively estimate about 20 Yellow-rumps, definitely the most I've had this spring. Only other species was a Black-throated Green (possibly 2), the first this spring for the park. Vireos were good today with 3 Blue-headed and my first of the year Red-eyed.

In other news: a somewhat late Ruby-crowned Kinglet, a B-G Gnatcatcher on a nest, huge waves of Blue Jays, the usual large number of Chipping Sparrows, and in case anyone doubted it, Gray Catbirds are definitely back. And a very briefly seen long-tailed bird flying away that might have been a cuckoo, or might not.
