My walk to work took a little longer than usual this morning. It sounded as if most of Canada's White-throated Sparrows had stopped off in the park to test their singing voices so I had to try and count them...at least 400 in turned out, including 80 in one view! Other highlights were 7 warbler species, including a singing Black-throated Blue Warbler, and the Merlin (I'm sure it's the same one as has been around since late March) perched in a tree eating a Chimney Swift. Full list below.

This bodes well for the field trip we are hosting at the park on Saturday morning (May 7) for the Baltimore Bird Club. All are very welcome to attend and there's even an excellent coffee shop by the park for apres-birding refreshments. Meet at the fountain by the white house (the only house actually in the park) - 27 South Patterson park Avenue, Baltimore. From downtown simply take Pratt St east until you hit the park, then turn left and park immediately.
