Alerted by a singing Baltimore Oriole and Yellow Warbler and 4 Common
Loons over my yard this morning, I decided I better get out and bird
and defer yard tasks another day.
I went to Milford Mill Park (MM), then Soldiers' Delight (SD) in
western Baltimore county. Both were very birdy - finally. At Milford
Mill in two hours I had 14 Warbler species including B-t Green,
Worm-eating, Hooded, and N Waterthrush. Two hours at Soldiers' Delight
added two more: Prairie and a spectacular Blackburnian Warbler.
Pleasantly, I had good looks at all the warblers except Parula, and
there was lots of singing at Milford Mill.
The Warblers and some others were as follows. * = first of season for
me
Blue-winged Warbler - MM 2 (first seen yesterday at MM)
Northern Parula - MM, SD
Yellow Warbler - MM 1
Chestnut-sided Warbler * - MM 1, SD 1
Black-throated Blue Warbler - MM, SD - ~10 each place
Yellow-rumped Warbler - MM ~25, SD ~50-100
Black-throated Green Warbler * - MM 3
Blackburnian Warbler * - SD-1 very well seen - the king of warblers
Prairie Warbler - SD 2
Palm Warbler - MM, SD ~5 each place, mainly yellow, one definite
western at SD
Black-and-white Warbler - MM, SD ~10 each place
American Redstart - MM ~10
Worm-eating Warbler * - MM 1
Ovenbird - MM 5, SD 1
Northern Waterthrush * - MM 1
Hooded Warbler - MM 1
Also
Rose-breasted Grosbeak * - SD 1 (heard then seen flying)
Scarlet Tanager - MM 1
Veery - MM 1, SD 1 (first seen yesterday at MM)
Wood Thrush - MM ~5
Blue-headed Vireo - ~5 both places
Ruby-crowned Kinglet - still surprisingly numerous, ~15 at MM

Still no Indigo Buntings.
