As one of the (former?) young birders that Norm mentions, I would like to  
thank him for pointing out the work of George and Jim.  However, I would  like 
to make a slight correction and acknowledge another inspiring  teacher.  Mike 
Burchett and I were both taught biology at C. Milton Wright  High School by 
Spike Updegrove.  It was Spike who started both of us out  birding and provided 
wonderful support right from the  start.  Unfortunately, he retired last year 
so future students will be  without his influence.
