Spent 45 minutes this morning in the Azalea Collection at the National Arboretum. It was incredibly birdy, the possibilities only limited by my birding skills and the need to tear myself away (a little late!) for work.
Top bird was BAY-BREASTED WARBLER, a lifer, singing in the trees.
Also had:
American Redstart - pair. First of year.
Common Yellowthroat (female)
Yellow-Rumped Warbler - everywhere. Two almost flew into me.
Scarlet Tanager
Eastern Wood Peewee - heard only.
Wood Thrush - singing loudly.
Eastern Towhee - calling all over the place.
Brown Thrasher - 4+
Chipping Sparrow
White-Breasted Nuthatch
Grey Catbird
Cardinal
American Robin
Vireo, sp.
Good Birding!
