Today around 2:30 there were six Glossy Ibis in the wetland ponds at
Pickering Creek, along with several Greater and Lesser Yellowlegs. A few
days ago I saw a downy young Killdeer with its parents in the same region.
Earlier today near Rte 50 north of Easton I found singing Blackpoll
Warblers and Black-throated Blue Warblers. Warbling Vireos were singing at
the entrance to Forrest Landing (off Forrest Landing Road), and when I got
home one was singing from a black cherry tree on my own property.
And finally, though it is getting very late in the seadson for this, the
disfunctional Osprey pair on our end of Leeds Creek seem to have settled in,
and the mrs either laid her egg last night or is planning to do so tonight.
Today was the first day that she has settled deeply into the nest and
remained there for most of the day.
