Pretty good day in College Park today on the Paint Branch
Stream Valley trail, despite overcast skies. Birded from
6:30 am to 9:45 am with a couple other birders. 53 species
identified. FOY birds: ACADIAN FLYCATCHER (heard only),
SPOTTED SANDPIPER (great looks on the banks of the stream
with a SOLITARY SANDPIPER), YELLOW-BREASTED CHAT (singing
from a perch), and YELLOW WARBLER. Full list below
(submitted to eBird). Probably heard Black-and-white
Warbler faintly. May have heard Blue-winged Warbler. 2
crow sp, 1 accip sp, 1 swallow sp. The RUSTY BLACKBIRD was
a female in breeding plumage, but she only had the use of
one leg (she was hopping around in the swamp). Approx 25
CANADA GOOSE goslings. An EASTERN BLUEBIRD nesting hole was
found. Also saw a Woodchuck and a Beaver...
