A good new bird in the park today was a cooperative singing WARBLING VIREO.
Otherwise pretty slow--a SCARLET TANAGER made an appearance for the second day in a row, as did a SWAINSON'S THRUSH, and for the first time BLACKPOLLS outnumbered YELLOW-RUMPs. No other warblers at all today, after a week that had till now had some decent diversity.
Several flocks of 20 or so birds flew over--I'm guessing they were cowbirds, but I didn't get good enough looks to rule out something more interesting.
I've had no Chipping Sparrows in the park since Monday, and only 2 then. They were such a dominant species in the park for all of April and the first week of May, that I had wondered if some would hang around--now it looks like they were just staging.
