This morning at about 10 am, as we were driving north on Rt. 50, a
SANDHILL CRANE flew across the gap in the trees growing heavily on
either side of Rt. 50. We drove another 1/8-mile or so to an
opening in the tree line where we could scan the fields in the
direction the bird had flown but were unable to relocate it.

We were a half mile or so north of the Choptank River Bridge and the
bird crossed the road flying from West to East. This isn't terribly
far from where a pair of Sandhills were feeding over a week or two
in a field behind a motel about 5-6 (?) years ago. I'll write up my
sighting but I only saw the bird for a singularly short period of
time. A photograph would probably be a lot more satisfying to the
Records Committee.

Best,
Norm
